2010 Keystone Cougar 5th Wheel Landing Gear Diagram

Posted By: swbouton on 12/31/11 02:55pm We are new fifth wheelers. Nosotros recently bought a 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel 4x4 Coiffure Cab and a 2010 Keystone / Springdale fifth wheeler.

I was nigh to practice connecting and disconnecting the truck and trailer when I institute that the electrical switch for the landing jacks does aught. I know there is electricity into the camper.

Is this normal?

Is there another manner to heighten the front end then I can put it into the fifth bike mount in the truck?

If on I would cheque that you have 12V DC ability to switch and thru switch to motor.

Unplug 110V AC ability.....does Any 12V DC work (lights, slides, propane to water heater/fridge)?
IF yes.......problem is at switch or motor (bad switch/motor or fuse)
If no....battery disconnect switch off

Posted By: jpmason on 12/31/eleven 03:17pm Assuming you've check all fuses and breakers, check to run across if you have an in-line fuse near the switch. My landing gear quit working and I removed the in-line fuse to check information technology. Information technology was good and when I put it back in the landing gear started working once again. I judge it just had a bad connection. But I did accept a manual crank to raise/lower the gear.

Mine has a thermal cut out . If motor gets hot from lifting a lot, information technology shuts down to cool.
Maybe the thermal switch is bad? Check for power at the motor then work to fuses.

Second, look for a push./pull type on- off switch in the basement near the wring for the jack switches. Good Luck and Happy New Year!

Posted By: heaterswa on 01/01/12 09:18am I had a loose/ poorly made connection at the landing gear switch itself causing mine to become up simply non down. I could move the wiring harness by hand and that got it rolling again.

Posted By: swbouton on 01/01/12 12:42pm Well, I tried everything that I could think of and I still become zip out of the landing jack switch. It did work about 2 weeks ago when I pulled the trailer home. In fact, everything electrical seems to be simply fine - sliders, lights, heater, etc.

The battery and fuses are OK. I can raise and lower using the manual tool.

Posted By: Greentow on 01/01/12 02:42pm As "alageezer" noted, Practise NOT run the legs upwards tight. Had to replace shear pins, a motor and a leg on mine from doing that. Make a marker (record?) on the leg and then you'll know when information technology's nearly 1/2 inch from full upwardly tight.

Posted By: trucker LOU on 01/01/12 10:14pm On my 2010 Springdale there is fuse for the landing gear behind the battery. relocated it to the compartment beside the switch.running the gear against the cease tends to accident fuse. hope this helps.--LOU--

Posted By: Veebyes on 01/02/12 07:54am RV builders are notorious for hiding things like switches & fuses from the owners. It took me awhile to discover that an on/off switch in a basement corner was for the legs.

It would be sooo overnice if RVs were more like boats with all 12V wiring going to a single LABELED circuit billow console (non a fuse panel).

Posted By: swbouton on 01/02/12 10:16am I followed a pinkish wire that goes from the switch and runs to the expanse backside the battery. There is a black "block" on it that looks similar information technology might have a fuse in information technology to me. I am attaching a photograph.

I don't want to break something else. Is the blackness "block" a fuseholder or am I way off track?

This is a 2010 Springdale.

Posted Past: Allworth on 01/02/12 11:07am Pop it open. It holds a large version of an automotive bract-type fuse. Usually 30 Amp, although information technology could be l Amp.

Pull the fuse and test it with an Ohm-meter. It will either read well-nigh goose egg or 10,000 Ohms. Information technology is probably blown (high resistance) since information technology is on the principal power feed to the jacks. Autozone or O'Rileys has replacements.

Why information technology may be blown is a whole nother can of bait.

It looks equally though you plant information technology. Yes, pulling the landing set up too high can accident the fuse. As some take stated, Put a mark or piece of record on the leg to indicate the highest it will get without bravado fuses. Practiced luck.

Hmmm, if the fuse is reading 0 ohms and so it is good. Mine just had a bad connexion and after reseating the fuse the jacks started working. If reseating the fuse or putting a new one in don't work, I would offset tracking down where the 12 volts is and is not.

Posted Past: swbouton on 01/02/12 03:20pm The Instance is almost airtight. It was the fuse and replacing it did resolve the problem. Now I'll go some cogitating tape and mark the legs.

I didn't think nearly it but the electrical run from the firm to the camper is a poor one. I'll address that in the near hereafter.
